When I moved to New York, one of the first places I went was the Village Vanguard. I had collected John Coltrane's albums recorded here and I went to pay homage. Since the first night I went (I can't remember who it was that I saw) I've seen Ron Carter, Max Roach, Branford Marsalis, and Cecil Taylor there. It's been a while since I've gone back. . . .
