Funery Towers of Yemliko
Set off from the main ruins of Palmyra, these funery towers dot the landscape. Once a Greek outpost, Palmyra was annexed by Rome in 217 AD. In 634 it fell to the Muslims, and in 1089 the city was destroyed by an earthquake. The ruins now rise out of the desert, covering some 50 hectares. You can read more about the day I spent at the ruins here.
